Dentistry Badge

As it turns out a simple trip to the dentist is a networking opportunity for earning a badge.

See email below:

Dr. Arrick,

Per our discussion today during my dental appointment here is the link that explains our endeavor to attain merit-badges.

Here is the link to the dentistry merit badge.

Mainly we would need assistance with #3 "Arrange a visit with a dentist" and #4 "name 5 instruments" and "prepare a dental stone cast" which my hygienist said she could lead us through.    #7 looks like we need to ask you about your career, your education, and overall experience as a dentist.  Something I can't say I would have normally brought up in conversation with your instruments hovering about my mouth.  Though now that I think of it, I bet you've got quite an interesting story.

If you are up for showing us the ropes of Dentistry, we would appreciate it.  We can come in at your convenience maybe early one morning or late one evening or just take care of this on my next appointment in May.  Hopefully you'll find this entertaining and say, "sure, what the hell".

And if this sounds like fun to you and one of your girlfriends, I am happy to repay the favor on soil and water conservation badge.  That's what I do for a living.

Thanks!

Special Note:
I wish I had a digital copy of my x-rays.  It was one of those that went all the way around my mouth, so all my teeth and my jaw are one one single slide.  That would be cool to post here.  Turns out they were concerned with an opaque anomaly on my left mandible.  Could be nothing, but it could be cancer.  Quite the range there, Doc.  I now feel ghost pain that I didn't feel before I knew about the anomaly.  No worries, I'm not a smoker and I can't remember a blast of radiation hitting just my left mandible unless there was a malfunction at the airport body scanner some months ago.
